Our New Educator Prep Program (NEPP) is designed specifically to support candidates who hold a bachelor's degree or higher in a field other than education, and who have a desire to come certified educators.
Our competency-based program is a hybrid model including online courses, mentoring, and side-by-side coaching. Throughout the program, candidates serve as the teacher of record. NEPP allows candidates to learn pedagogy online and then demonstrate this knowledge in their classroom setting.
New Educator Prep Program Enrollment Agreement
The candidate understands and commits to the following:
A certificate of course completion will be granted to the candidate upon completion of the program that includes receiving a passing score on the assessments required for state certification.
During The program, the candidate will be a full-time employee of the participating organization and will be responsible for filling a teacher role. The New Educator Prep Program will guide the support and expectations of the new educator, but the new educator must comply with the expectations of the employing organization. Asynchronous coursework will be required of the new educator that must be completed on schedule and may require time outside of formal teaching hours.
The cost of the two-year program is $8,000, payable in equal installments of $2,000 per each of the four semesters. If you are receiving a Scholarship from a school, the sponsoring school will pay the cost of the program in full, contingent upon all specifications outlined in the Sponsoring School Agreement are followed. All program specifications included in NEPP Catalog are binding.
Students or sponsoring school may cancel enrollment within 3 days of signing the enrollment agreement being executed. In that event, students shall be entitled to a full refund of payment, less the cost of materials and supplies not to exceed $150.00. They will not be responsible for any subsequent payments as the agreement will be void.
A student may withdraw from the program during the one-week drop period at the start of each semester for a full refund. No refunds will be issued after the one week drop period for any given semester. If a student chooses to withdraw from the program at the end of a semester, they will not be responsible for payment for the remaining semesters of the program. Refunds shall be made within 30 days of the date of withdrawal. The withdrawal date shall be established by the written notification from the student or sponsoring school. The Student will not be allowed re-entry in the same cohort however, they may apply again for a subsequent cohort.
NEI may terminate the agreement for unsatisfactory academic performance or unethical behavior on behalf of student. Written notice of termination will be provided to the student by the Program Director. This agreement will then be considered void.
In the event that the NEPP program is cancelled for any reason, students will receive the prorated balance of funds. The prorate will be determined by dividing the $2,000.00 semester charge by the number of calendar days for the semester. This total will be multiplied by the number days remaining for the semester. Refunds shall be made within 30 days of the date of program cancellation. The cancellation date shall be established by the written notification from the NEPP Program Director to program participants.
